Glenore Hall Detwiler "Glen" "Nora", 88, a resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD for 23 years and previously of Rockville, MD died on Tuesday, December 27 at the Gilchrist Hospice House in Columbia, MD. Born on November 30, 1928 in New Orleans, LA to the late Raymond and Dove Hall, Glenore graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1947 and from the University of Maryland in 1952 where she earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's degree. She was a physical education teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools working at both Montgomery Blair High School from 1952-62 and Walt Whitman High School from 1962-83. Glenore was a member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association, the United States Golf Association, Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association and Maryland State Retired Teachers. She was a lifelong boater and after retiring, she also became an avid golfer. Glenore was preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. "Hank" Detwiler in 1982, married in 1952, and brothers Murray B. Hall in 2008 and Kenneth R. Hall in 1997. She is survived by her nephews, Douglas Hall of Annapolis, MD, Randall Hall of Bradford, PA, Richard and David Hall both of Denver, CO and her niece, Sheri Hall Haslam of Laurel, MD, and a number of grand nephews and nieces, all of whom loved her like a grandmother.
Friends are invited to celebrate Glenore's life on Wednesday, January 4 from 10 am until her funeral service begins at 11 am at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD. Condolences and tributes may be made by using the link on this page.
