Gloria Rodriguez Bungato - Obituary

Gloria Rodriguez Bungato of Indian Head, MD died on July 13, 2022. Mrs. Bungato was born in 1937 in Pozorrubio Pangasinan, Philippines. There, she attended Pozorrubio High School. In her adopted hometown of Indian Head, MD Gloria was regularly active in several organizations such as the VFW Post 5471 Ladies Auxiliary and the Combined International Philippines American Association. She was also very much involved in her church, St. Columba’s Catholic Church. Gloria was privileged to have diverse types of employment; she worked at Fort Washington Medical Center (admissions), Greater Southeast Hospital, Hadley Memorial Hospital and Johnny’s House of Beauty (hairdresser). In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and socializing with her friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her late husband of 51 years, Monico Malapit Bungato, Sr. She is survived by two daughters; Frances Smith (Indian Head, MD), Amelia Ocampo (Waldorf, MD), three sons; Monico Bungato Jr. (Roxboro, NC), Donald Bungato (Lorton, VA), Dennis Bungato (Waldorf, MD), two sisters; Carmen Pimentel (San Diego, CA and Quezon City, Philippines), Lydia Ramilo (Oxon Hill, MD); sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Gloria's Life Celebration on Monday and Tuesday, August 15 & 16, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, August 17,2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745 followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Please meet at the Administration Building parking lot at 1:15 p.m. that day with one's own transportation and Identification.
