loria Jean Williams Jones of Ft. Washington, MD slipped into a peaceful rest in the arms of the Lord on September 20, 2012. Born in Littleton, NC to David and Mary Williams, she embodied a loving spirit and determination for higher achievements. With perseverance and determination, she paid her way through school and received a Bachelors of Science with honors in History and Political Science from Fayetteville State University, where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and began her lifelong dedication to community service. Following graduation in 1971, she moved to the Washington Metro Area, where she continued to establish a legacy of success and commitment to community service. Her legacy is solidified through her demonstrated success in Human Resources and Real Estate, while raising four successful children and receiving a Masters degree in Finance with high honors at Southeastern University. After her retirement in 2001, she continued her dedication to public service as a consultant in the area of Human Resources. She was committed to excellence and diligently worked to make a difference in everyone’s lives. Gloria understood the importance of higher education in young people’s lives. Through various churches and non-profit organizations, she helped organize fund raisers and events, solicited donations, and performed duties as the Treasurer. Her efforts helped many students realize their dream of going to college by the many scholarships that were funded through her efforts. She is survived by her husband Clarence S. Jones, Jr., her son Antrium Gary Jones, three daughters, Trinese A. Crawford, Letitia A. Jones and Avita T. Jones, two brothers and five sisters, five grandchildren, eighteen nieces and nephews and a host other family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Gloria’s life celebration on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., MD. and on Thursday September 27 from 9:30am until time of Funeral services at 10:30am at Independent Baptist Church, 9255 Piscataway Road, Clinton, MD.
