Feb 9, 1935 - Oct 8, 2015
oldie Christine Perkins Bowman, a long-time resident of Fort Washington, Maryland peacefully transitioned on Thursday, October 8, 2015 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born February 9, 1935 in Greenville, North Carolina to the late James Henry and Mary Lee Jones Perkins, Goldie graduated from Robinson Union High School in 1953. She continued her education at Howard University where she earned a Diploma in Nursing in 1973. Because of her exceptional training at the University, she worked faithfully as the head nurse at DC General Hospital for many years. Though Christine was career-focused and driven, she met the love of her life, and soon thereafter, married the late Andrew Bowman on October 16, 1978 in Rockville, Maryland. Goldie and Andrew did not have children together; however, they shared a love for Renee Bowman, Gregory Bowman, and the late Andrea Bowman from Andrew's previous union. Over the years, family and friends became acquainted with each of their beloved pet Chows, Harold, Samantha, Spanky, and JoJo, who were spoiled with the best of love, care, and food. On many occasions, she could be found at Bible Study at St. Columba Catholic Church where she was also a member of Sodality . To that end, not surprisingly, many would describe her as a humble and meek woman of God who was quick to help others. While Christine had various interests, she especially enjoyed traveling, shopping, and cooking. Active in her community, she participated in a number of activities at Harmony Hall. Goldie leaves to cherish her memory her two sisters, Bettie (Albert) Perkins Guy of Newport News, Virginia, Molin J. Perkins Wilson-Byrd of Williamsburg, Virginia, she is also survived by 3 aunts Lenona Hopkins, Matthew Hopkins and Annie L. Perkins along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Goldie's Celebration of Life on Wednesday, October14, 2015 from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD.
