Grace E. Carnal - Obituary

race "Gracie" E. Carnal, 92, a four and a half year resident of Anne Arundel County and previously of Amherst, VA, and Clinton, MD, died on Monday, February 19, 2018, in Glen Burnie, MD following a brief illness. Born July 1, 1925, in Washington, DC to the late Godfrey and Harrietta "Hattie" T. Gwynn, Grace worked at the Department of Defense as a contract specialist. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lovingston, VA, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Clinton, MD. Grace enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, and the piano. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Roland W. Carnal; and two siblings, Godfrey Gwynn and Mary F. Jenkins. Grace is survived by three children, Donna Granato of Gambrills, MD, Barbara Carnal of Greer, SC and Ralph Carnal of Costa Rica; a sister, Rose Koontz of Gaithersburg, MD; five granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Grace's life on Friday, February 23 from 7 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment private.
