regory "Gregg" David Moore, 30, of Columbia, died Jan. 25. The cause of death is not available.
Mr. Moore was born Nov. 1, 1977, to David J. and Jayne E. Moore of Edgewater. He graduated from North Caroline High School in Ridgely in 1996, then graduated from Towson University in 2000.
He was an avid baseball fan and focused his primary career around the sport, holding various positions with the Baltimore Orioles and Houston Astros. He later moved into broadcasting, working as a page for NBC and as a production assistant for FOX News. In 2004, Mr. Moore returned to sports as a coordinator of special events for Major League Baseball. In 2007, he joined the Baltimore Orioles as manager of special events.
He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, and was a fierce competitor in the Retired Orangemen Fantasy Football League and other fantasy sports leagues. He also enjoyed cooking, especially making his homemade beef-a-roni, nachos, and sugar cookies. He liked animals and considered Starbucks a main food group. Most important to him was the time he spent with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nicholas and Jane Saroukos and H. Jackson Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Nola Male of Schenectady, N.Y., whom he married in 2005; one sister, Courtney Nickole Moore of Annapolis; and his grandmother, Kathryn Moore of Smyrna, Del.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis. Interment is private.
