Gregory G. Peden - Obituary

t is with great sadness that we relate the passing of Gregory G. Peden Sr. Greg was in his 78th year. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Weiner, and Gregory G. Peden Jr.; his siblings: John Peden Jr. and Rosemary Neville (Jeff). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Maryann Peden, and his wife Susan Peden. He has four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Greg was predeceased by his daughter, Kirsten Rodriguez, his parents, John A. and Beatrice Peden, his brother, Michael, and sisters, Beatrice and Kathleen. Greg attended Salesianum High School, Villanova University and Widener University where he gained his MBA. He was the youngest of six children and the first in his family to attend college. He proudly served overseas in the Air Force. Greg retired after 30 years from Delmarva Power serving in various financial roles. In 1998, Greg was elected to the New Castle Trustees of the Common during which he served in many roles including Finance Chairman and President. He was involved in the New Castle town hall renovations and instrumental in the planning and funding of the new Police station and for many years was a member of the New Castle Lions Club. He enjoyed the race track and completing the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles - only Sunday because they were the most difficult. Greg was a loving father, incredibly intelligent, kind, a friend to many, and a very handsome man. He will be missed. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 2 pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966. A donation has been made on Greg’s behalf to the Trustees of The New Castle Common. In lieu of flowers, please crack a Budweiser and bet on some horses at the track. He would love it.
