rover C. “Buck” Hardin, Jr. (Age 92)
On Thursday, April 12, 2018, Grover Cleveland “Buck” Hardin, Jr. died peacefully. He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn Hardin for 60 years, loving father of three children, son Robin (Jane) of Modesto, CA, son Jon Andre of Oxon Hill, MD, and daughter Rhonda Stiver of Reston, VA, loving grandfather to Amy Stiver and Jennifer Hardin, and two great grandchildren, Gina Marie Lange and Royce McCoy.
Grover served in the United States Navy for 20 years during World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam War. Following a brief stint at the US Postal Service, he began his career with the FAA in Flight Service. A native of Caroleen, NC, He was an active member of the Oxon Hill United Methodist Church, NARTU (Naval Air Reserve Training Unit), and various civic associations. He was a generous man who donated to numerous charities. He was also an avid sports fan, enjoyed golf, gardening, and family time.
Relatives and friends are invited to Buck's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD on Sunday, April 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Monday, April 30 at Oxon Hill United Methodist Church, 6400 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD from 12 p.m. until time of service at 12:30 p.m. Reverend Patricia Allen presiding. Interment with military honors at 2:30 p.m. at Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
