uerrero Illo de Lima was born on October 19, 1944 in Iriga City, Philippines to Jose and Marciana de Lima. He attended the University of St. Anthony in Iriga City before enlisting in the US Navy in 1966. In that same year, he set sail for the United States of America to start a new life. In 1968, he met Teresita Gastilo while stationed in Annapolis, MD. Shortly thereafter, he was deployed to Vietnam. In 1969, he returned to the Philippines where he wed Teresita Gastilo on December 14, 1969. In 1971, he was then stationed here in Washington, DC. Already a corpsman, he worked at Bethesda Naval Hospital as an X-ray Technologist. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1980. He settled in Fort Washington, MD and continued his career in X-ray and Radiology at Capitol Hill Hospital. He received several commendations throughout his military and civilian career. He was considered to be one of the top Ultra Sonographers in the Metropolitan DC area. He gave tireless effort in his continuance of furthering his education in ultrasound and diagnostic imaging. When time permitted, he enjoyed cooking, watching a good boxing match and the rivalry between the Washington Redskins vs. the Dallas Cowboys , playing a good game of spades with his kids, fishing, sailing and traveling. At the time of his death, he was employed with INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parent, Jose and Marciana de Lima as well as his sisters, Monina and Imelda. He is survived by his faithful wife, Teresita de Lima. His three loving children Joie de Lima-Jones (Cary Jones), Jose de Lima, Aimee de Lima his two grandsons, Jaden and Mekai, and his two brothers Manuel de Lima and Namfrel de Lima. And a host of other relatives and dear friends. Family and friends are invited to Guerrero's Life Celebration on Friday, July 29 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, July 30 at 11am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD.
