uido “Guy” Alfred Baldecchi peacefully passed away on March 10, 2025. He was born in the heart of the depression on April 8, 1933 to the late Helen and Dan Baldecchi. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Katherine Stuart “Stu” Bowyer Baldecchi, whom he met on a blind date on a fateful New Year’s Eve. The two married in 1959. He is survived by their four children, Pam (Hearon) Dickson, Danny (Merv) Baldecchi, Jay (Meaghan) Baldecchi and Chuck (Erin) Baldecchi who loved and adored him; his 11 grandchildren, Kate (Jake Bowling) Dickson, Mary Southgate Dickson (Peter) Simms, Caroline Dickson, Tuc, Brooke, Ellie, Michael, Colin, Bella, Guido and Cade Baldecchi and his loving sister, Ronnie Matule. After graduating from Fair Lawn High School (NJ), Guido boldly ventured south for college, to North Carolina State University. There he majored in Textile Chemistry, pledged Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and made lifelong friends. Those ties proved strong later in life when he left his native New Jersey, to open Nu Southern Dyeing and Finishing in Henderson, NC. For over 25 years, he and Stu raised their children and invested deeply in the civic, educational, corporate, and social fabric, literally and figuratively, of Vance County. After Stu lost her battle with breast cancer in 1984, he moved back to New York City. In New York, another fateful blind date led him to meet and marry Diane Fuller. Guido and Diane traveled extensively and enjoyed city life. They called Manhattan’s Carnegie Hill neighborhood home for over 30 years, until her passing in 2022. Guido spent the final chapter of his life surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren in their cherished community of Sherwood Forest, Maryland. His children and grandchildren will be forever grateful for the gift of Sherwood Forest, where Stu and Guy first bought a summer home in 1967. Nonno and his family made memories, too many to count, there on the Severn River. His kindness to strangers, integrity in business, deep Episcopal faith, and love of family are imprinted on his children and grandchildren’s souls forever. Generations from now, great grandchildren will be told to be “Brave and Strong” with a hug and a kiss on each cheek, will wonder why they discuss what they are having for dinner during lunch, and talk about what they should eat tomorrow, at dinner tonight. Most importantly, when they order soup they will know to instruct the waiter “to please make sure it’s good and hot!” The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise Senior Living of Annapolis and Heartland Hospice for their kind and loving care during Guido’s last months. Memorial gifts may be directed to The Sherwood Forest Endowment,134 Sherwood Forest Rd, Sherwood Forest, MD 21405 or a charity of one’s choosing in Guido’s name. Condolences may be made by using the Memories link on this page.
