Guy Bixler - Obituary

uy Eugene Bixler Guy E. "Gus" Bixler, 72, of Edgewater for 50 Years and formally of Reading ,PA, died December 29,at the Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis after a 10 year illness from emphysema. Mr. Bixler was born in Reading, Pa, on March 29,1936.He served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp. He later retired after 31 years as a building engineer for the Prince Georges Metro Center. He was a member of the Marine Corp League and enjoyed holiday parties, dancing and playing cards with neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth F. Bixler who died in 1994 after 17 Years of marriage. He is survived by his son Howard Montgomery of Hagerstown, Md. and his daughter Sherry Bennett of Winchester, Va., two brothers, Stewart Roth of Naples, Fl. and Richard Bixler of Franklin, Ga., one sister, Joanne Warfield of Baltimore, Md. He is also survived by his nephew, Timothy Warfield of Baltimore, Md., his niece, Jamie Miller of Gettysburg, Pa. and 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great-granddaughters. Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Bixler's Life Celebration on Thursday January 15, from 10AM until his memorial service begins at 11AM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, Md. Inurnment to follow in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md.
