arold A. Molz, age 87, a long time Annapolitan, died June 14, 2011, in Annapolis. He was born in Baltimore, the son of Otto and Julia Molz. He attended Loyola High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola College in March 1944 while in the Navy V-12 program. Lieutenant Molz served as a Navigator aboard the USS Braxton (APA-138) during World War II. After being released to inactive duty, he married the former Helen Marie Coyle of San Jose, CA, a nurse whom he had met during the war, and the couple returned to the Baltimore-Washington area. Mr. Molz spent his career in the graphic arts industry, first with the Williams & Heintz Map Company, then as Vice-President of Sales for Capitol Printing Ink Company and finally as Managing Director of the Research and Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry, Inc. until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Molz was an avid boater, poker player and Redskins fan. He was an amateur radio operator and became a licensed Coast Guard Captain in his later years. Active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Arimethean, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fleet Reserve Club and the Elks. Mr. Molz was predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 2010. He is survived by four daughters: Helen P. Dove of Mechanicsville, Katherine M. Slone of Reston, VA, Suzanne Molz Evans of Grand Junction, CO and Theresa M. Cookerly of Manchester; four grandchildren: Helen M. Hartman-Barnes, Alan L. Hartman, Michael G. Cookerly and Katherine E. Cookerly; great-grandson, Parker W. Hartman; sister, Mrs. Raymond F. Baer of Ellicott City and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 21 at 10:30am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21411. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Elementary School Tuition Assistance Fund, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.
