Harold Eugene Smith - Obituary

arold Eugene Smith January 12, 2022 Harold Eugene Smith, “Smitty”, age 91, of Edgewater, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Brightview Senior Living South River. Smitty served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to Edgewater in the early 1960s where he raised his family. He was a member of the Annapolis Elks Lodge 622 and the American Legion Cummings-Behlke Post 226. He retired from the National Security Agency. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Karen and Chuck Hodell of Hedgesville, WV; and Nancy and Cecil Duke of Ty Ty, GA; three grandchildren, Nicholas Ransom of New London, CT; Savannah Ransom of Glen Burnie, MD; and Jeremy Davis of Faribault, MN; and two sisters and a brother. Additionally, Harold considered Brightview South River to be his home, and the residents and staff to be extended family. He was very happy there and proud to have served as an Ambassador for the facility. He will be interred at Maryland Veterans Cemetery – Crownsville at a later date.
