Hazel Ruth Ives, 93, of Bowie, MD, formerly of Forest Heights, MD and York, PA, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Ruth married Bobbie Eugene Ives in 1947 and had been married 67 years at the time of his death in 2015. Born June 5, 1927, in Randleman, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Nelson and Ida (Walker) Sumner. Ruth grew up in Trinity, NC, and was a graduate of Trinity High School. She moved to Washington, DC, in 1945 to work for the FBI.  Shortly thereafter, she worked as an Operator and then Supervisor for the C&P Telephone Company.  After a period of being a homemaker, she returned to work as a receptionist for BoatUS, retiring in April 1991.  Ruth was formerly a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester, PA, Oxon Hill United Methodist Church in Oxon Hill, MD, and Congress Heights United Methodist Church in Washington, DC.   She is survived by three sons, Perry Ives, and his wife Diane, of Souderton, PA, David Ives, and his wife Linda, of Leesburg, VA, and Michael Ives, and his husband Josef, of Mechanicsville, VA; three daughters, Theresa Ives of Odenton, MD, Julie Granados, and her husband Antonio, of Leonardtown, MD, and Carol Bradley, and her husband Bobby, of White Hall, MD; 13 grandchildren, Candice, Sheri, Christopher, Danny, Bryan, Nicholas, Jesse, Francis, Amanda, James, Michael, Hannah, and Matthew; 21 great-grandchildren, Myklen, Daniel, Irene, Shea, Ramona, Penelope, Olivia, Lily, Amelia, Aryanna, Aubrey, Ray, Jonathan, Matilda, Rory, Liam, Hannah, Philip, Timothy, Jacob and Theodore; and one sister, Lea Donovan of Bethlehem, PA. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan; six brothers; and three sisters.  Mr. and Mrs. Ives will be interred together in a private family service with U.S. Navy honors for Mr. Ives at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
