Helen Barnard - Obituary

elen Virginia Barnard, 83, a 2-year resident of Ashburn, VA and previously of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD for 12 years, died at her home in Ashburn, VA on July 6, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born December 6, 1925 in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Annapolis, MD. Mrs. Barnard was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest L. Barnard, whom she married in 1943 and who died in 2006; devoted mother of Diane L. Bellan of Ashburn, VA and Christine Schaffer of Malvern, PA; sister of Albert Holmberg of Schenectady, NY; grandmother of Kimberly Tinney of Gainesville, VA, Brian Salter of South Riding, VA and Christopher Salter of Centreville, VA; great-grandmother of Kelly Moore of Gainesville, VA and Sarah Salter of South Riding, VA. Friends are invited to Helen's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Thursday, July 9 from 3 to 6pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10 at 10am at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis, MD 21403.
