elen "Tater" Campbell Galloway, 82, of Edgewater passed away at her home peacefully with her family at her side, on Saturday, June 18, 2016, after a seven-year battle with dementia. Tater, was born on June 7, 1934 in Annapolis, MD to the late Ralph and Helen Campbell, Sr. After graduating in 1952 from Annapolis High School, she attended college at Church Home and Hospital for three years and became a Registered Nurse. Helen began her career in 1955 at Anne Arundel General Hospital where she worked until her retirement as a nursing supervisor in 1985. She also worked at Annapolis Convalescent in Eastport, MD. Tater was active in the Baltimore Area Council Boy Scouts of America as well as on her high school reunion committee for the Class of 1952. She loved to travel and always enjoyed the company of friends and family. Tater believed in family first and her home was the "neighborhood home", where kids came by after school. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian E. Galloway. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald B. Galloway, Sr.; three sons, Donald (Barbara) B. Galloway, Jr. of Centerville, MD, Robert E. Galloway of Edgewater, and D. Scott Galloway of Edgewater; four brothers, Ralph E. Campbell, Jr. of Annapolis, William L. Campbell of Queenstown, Robert S. Campbell of Arnold and James E. Campbell of Berlin, MD; a sister, Barbara L. Rickman of Frederick; two grandchildren, Brandon L. and Brittany L. Galloway of Odenton; also survived by many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where a funeral service will be held on Friday, June 24 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a donation to your favorite charity is requested.
