Helen Gilbert - Obituary

elen Elizabeth Gilbert, age 85, a 15 year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Baltimore, MD, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born on January 12, 1925 in Lock Haven, PA, Helen was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. She worked as a receptionist at Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven where she learned to fly Piper Cub airplanes. She also was a statistician for Allied Artists/ Monogram Pictures in their New York office and an office manager and administrative assistant for several other businesses. Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis where she participated in the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Heritage Harbour Chorus, Drama Club and Dining Club. In her spare time she enjoyed cake designing and decorating. Helen is survived by her husband, Robert M. Gilbert; two sons, Richard M. Gilbert, M.D. of Enterprise, AL and Gregory S. Gilbert, A.I.A. of Centreville, MD and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20 at 3:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1300 West St., Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Heritage Harbour Chorus, c/o Larry Smith, 2713 Coxswain Pl., Annapolis, MD 21401 or to Trinity United Methodist Church.
