elen Marie Homa, “Sis”, age 88, a twenty-two-year resident of Annapolis, MD., and formerly of Pottsville, PA., died on July 14, 2012 in Annapolis, MD., of natural causes. Born in Pottsville on September 27, 1923 to the late Steve W. and Helen Homa, Helen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree in English. For more than twenty-five years, Helen taught in English Department at Pottsville High School and ultimately served as the head of the department. A member of St. Patrick Parish in Pottsville, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis and the Republican Party, Helen was an active bridge player who enjoyed reading, loved animals, especially horses, and of course shopping. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard S. Homa and Mary O. Homa, both of Annapolis, MD, two nephews and a niece and their families. Friends may call at St. Patrick Parish, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA., on Tuesday, August 7 from 11:00a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at noon. Interment will be private.
