Helen Likens - Obituary

elen "Mintie/Nan" Likens, a 56-year resident of Riva, died on March 12, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a short illness. She was 77. Born August 21, 1936 in Elkridge, she was a homemaker and caretaker of children most of her life. Helen was a National Bowling Champion and enjoyed bingo, board games, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Dale Likens, who died March 16, 1977; and one sister, Betty (Emma) Hibbard. Helen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Serfass and her husband, Richard, of Edgewater; four brothers, Bud, William, Richard and Ernest Stivers; three sisters, Joyce Goetz, Sue Finley and Shirley Benson; two grandchildren, Sean Victor Serfass and Jody Dale Fuchs; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Hunter Fuchs; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Friday from 6 to 8pm, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 10am. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
