Henrietta J. Stachecki - Obituary

Henrietta Stachecki was born on November 28, 1931 in Southampton Hospital to Julius and Jennie LaPurka. She was the older sister to Julius, Jr. and Patricia, both deceased, and was a big part of their early lives after the death of their mother when Henrietta was sixteen, and they were just nine and four. She graduated from Southampton High School. On May 25, 1952, a very rainy day, Henrietta married Joseph (Joe) Stachecki at Our Lady of Poland R.C. Church. A beach umbrella was used to protect the bride from the downpour. Henrietta was the mother of Diane, Joseph Jr., and Nancyann and mother-in-law to Kevin Finnegan, Rosanne Stachecki, and Mark Goans. She was also the proud grandmother of four: Brian and Jennie Finnegan, Tyler and Connor Stachecki. Henrietta’s career was as the wife of a potato farmer in addition to being a mother and homemaker, all roles she took on with gusto. She worked at her in-laws’ farmstand, the first in the area. To earn extra money to help pay for three college educations and “extras”, Henrietta worked at other part time jobs. When Henrietta and Joe were in their fifties, they became snowbirds to Florida. After a few years, they sold their home in Southampton and permanently moved to New Port Richey. For twenty years or so, they lived there until moving in with Nancyann and Mark in Maryland. In addition to being a good wife and mother, Henrietta was extremely observant, practical, and hardworking. She was a 4-H leader and readily volunteered to make a dish or help out with anything. As a mother, her advice was spot on due to her common sense and wisdom. Henrietta had a good eye for fashion, was a fabulous cook, and loved to dance and the color purple. Henrietta was living in a nursing home and died of complications of a massive stroke at Mandrin Inpatient Care Center Monday, April 15th , while holding Joe’s hand. Donations can be made in her name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, Maryland 21122.
