enry F. “Jack” Long, III, 68, a lifelong resident of Hyattsville, MD, died on Tuesday, November 23 at his second home, on the water, in Crownsville, MD. Born on April 25, 1953 in Washington, DC to the late Patricia Harrison and Henry F. Long, Jr., Jack earned a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College and a JD from the Potomac School of Law. He was a well-respected professional in the fence manufacturing industry for many years. Jack was a member of the Islamorada Fishing Club and Greenbelt American Legion Post 136. He loved the outdoors, fishing on the bay, offshore fishing in Islamorada, FL, waterfowl hunting on the Eastern Shore of MD and going out for good food and drinks with family and friends. Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann Hayward Long; his children, Jennifer (Ian) Kelly of Olney, MD, Henry F. (Lauren) Long, IV of Odenton, MD, and Lindsay (Benjamin) Quilty of Syracuse, NY; his sisters, Beverly Long of Greenbelt, MD, Laura (Marty) Dittes of Edgewater, MD, Stephanie (Donald) Patton of Murrels Inlet, SC, and Brenda (David) Holson of Dunkirk, MD; his grandchildren, CJ and Riley Tonnesen, Wesley and Walter Kelly, Lily Rapp, Louis and Desmond Quilty, and Henry, V and Charlotte Long. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Long and his sister, Tricia Stellabuto. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Tuesday, November 30 at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. There will be a reception immediately following, at a separate location. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made, in Jack’s memory, to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
