Henry Kirwan Sweeney - Obituary

enry Kirwan Sweeney, Jr., “Hank”, a 20-year resident of Cape St. Clair, died on April 12, 2020, at George Washington University Hospital. Born December 8, 1942, in Washington, DC to the late Mary Birch and Henry Kirwan Sweeney, he received his bachelor's degree from St. Fidelis Capuchin Seminary in Butler, PA and his Ph.D. in Psychology and Ministry from Catholic University of America. Hank was employed as a Psychotherapist at People Encouraging People in Prince George’s County. He was a longtime member of St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Hank enjoyed playing the guitar, dancing and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Patricia C. Sweeney; three siblings, Mary Hartley of Anderson, SC, Marie MacDonald of Humacao, PR, and Alice Burns of Parrish, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Because of the current COVID-19 regulations, all services and interment are private.
