Henry Thomas - Obituary

H

enry Napoleon Thomas was born on November 17, 1922 in Dryfolk, Virginia to the late John Henry Thomas and Percy Wade Taylor. He was the second of five siblings. During his childhood, Henry was baptized at the Rosebud Baptist Church. He moved from Virginia to Washington D.C. after proudly serving his country in the United States Coast Guard, where he received his honorable discharge. After his time in the service, Henry met the love of his life Alfretta Elizabeth Thomas and married on June 18, 1955. From this 35 year union was born a daughter, Rhonda G. Long in addition to Brenda Holloway from a previous relationship. Henry was an easy going gentle, hard working individual who got along with everyone. For many years he worked as a painter at Pepco Holdings Inc. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, as well as being a handy-man around the house. Henry will be missed and never forgotten as his legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Holloway and Rhonda Long, two sisters, Arnetha Montague and Mary Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alfretta Thomas and sisters Cleopatra Hurt, Margaret Jones, and his closest lifelong friend Rutledge Price.
