Herbert C. Cassella - Obituary

erbert C. Cassella, loving husband and father, died peacefully on January 20, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born to Herbert and Mildred Cassella in New York City on August 27, 1932, where he attended school before honorably serving in the U.S. Air Force in Japan during the Korean War. After completing his service, he returned to New York and began a long and distinguished career in the financial industry, working for several prominent Wall Street firms as a registered representative before transferring to Richmond, Virginia in 1972. He retired to Garden City, SC in 1994 before moving to Edgewater, MD to be closer to family. Herbert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Eileen Hannon Cassella, and is survived by his son, James P. Cassella (Yersi) of Fairfax Station, VA, his daughter Elizabeth C. Lynskey (John) of Churchton, MD, and four grandchildren, Erin, Nicole, James (Jimmy), and Julie Anne. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Herb’s life on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Chuch, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
