Herbert Cecil Costello, 71, a 19 year resident of Laurel, MD and previously of Annapolis, MD passed away on Friday May 23, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease after a 12 year battle.
Born on December 12, 1936 in Alexandria, Virginia to Ernest S. and Mary L. (Rouse) Costello. He attended George Washington Senior High. He worked as a police officer for the Maryland-National Capital Park Police from 1961-1977.
Herb served in the US Navy as a Torpedo Man 3rd Class and received the good conduct medal.
He was a loving husband and father. He was a member of the Laurel Moose Lodge #1504.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Ann Hale Costello, and his former spouse Alice Costello Baker and his 4 children, Teresa Wood of Handover, PA, Rebecca Leigh Quick of Clarksville, TN, Ernest Andrew Costello of Edgewater, MD and Mary Elizabeth Haggart of Sykesville, MD. He was predeceased by his brothers Ernest S. Costello, Jr. and Howard William Costello and his sister Kathryn Ann Snyder, also survived by 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and Friends are invited to Herb's Life Celebration on Friday May 31, 2008 from 11am until time of service at 12 noon at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Memorial Trust Fund for Herbert Costello, C/O Mary E.
