Howard Copeland Williams, Jr. - Obituary

H

oward C. Williams, Jr., 73, of Fort Washington, MD, passed away on September 10, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1951, in Sylvania, Georgia, to the late Howard C. Williams, Sr. and Blanche M. Williams (Braboy). Howard spent his early years in Columbus, Ohio, alongside his older sister, Stephanie. During their youth, the family lived abroad in Medan, Indonesia, after their father accepted a position overseas. Howard and Stephanie attended the American School in Singapore before returning to the United States, where he went on to graduate from Central State University. After moving to Washington, D.C., Howard married and later welcomed his son, Howard C. Williams, III (“Trey”). Howard had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found driving through the park, hunting, or fishing. At home, he found joy in watching westerns—his beloved “cowboys”—as well as nature programs. He was also a fan of football and especially enjoyed the music of Billy Ocean. The song “Caribbean Queen” never failed to lift his spirits. He is survived by his mother, Blanche; his sister, Stephanie; his son, Trey; and a host of cousins and extended relatives. Howard will be remembered for his humor, his love of nature, and the quiet joys of life that he cherished deeply. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Howard's Life Celebration on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 10 A.M. until the service time at 11 A.M at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 10928 Indian Head Hwy, Fort Washington, MD 20744. Interment to be held at a later date.
