ugh C. Carrington, On April 6, Hugh C. Carrington, 80, of the Annapolis area since 1972, died suddenly while on vacation in North Carolina. Born on April 27, 1932 to the late James and Adine Carrington, Hugh graduated from Arizona State University in 1955 then received his Master’s Degree from George Washington University. He worked 10 years for the State of Maryland as the Director of Information Services. He also served in the US Army and retired after 22 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. Hugh was very active in the Heritage Harbour Community in Annapolis. In his spare time he enjoyed playing tennis, bicycling, kayaking, traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. Hugh is survived by his wife of 16 years, Donna Carrington; two daughters, Julie (Steve) Merritt of Pasadena and Catherine (Mike) Gillespie of Edgewater; two step-sons, J.C. Alsup of Tampa, FL and Justin (Edie) Alsup of Crownsville; also survived by two brothers and five grandchildren. Friends are invited to Hugh’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomon Island Rd., Edgewater on Wednesday, April 17 from 12 to 2pm. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
