da Jean Henshaw Glover passed away on November 12, 2024, at age 94, surrounded by the love of her daughters. She was born on July 3, 1930, in Washington, DC to the late Edmund and Edna Henshaw. While working at the FBI, Jean earned her associate’s degree from Chevy Chase Community College and studied psychology at George Washington University at night. She met Joe, the love of her life, in a church group and they were married in February 1958 during an historic blizzard. After initially living in Alexandria, VA, where they welcomed their three girls, they moved to La Plata, MD in 1968, where they made their home in the rural community for 45 years. Jean worked as a Vision and Hearing Technician for the Charles County school system for 16 years and, upon retirement, started a 30-year career as a realtor/property manager for Davis Realty. Jean was a Charles County Fair Board Director for 30 years, serving as its President for over 10 years. As a member of the La Plata Methodist Church for over 40 years, Jean sang in the choir and served in several leadership positions. In 2002, she was Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees when a tornado caused major damage to the church, and she spent six years overseeing re-construction. Jean was gentle, generous, and courageous. She was devoted to her faith and community, giving back whenever she could. She was a skilled craftswoman who enjoyed keeping her hands busy and creating beautiful keepsakes for her family and friends. Jean was an avid quilter, having designed and sewn more than 100 beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved to garden, ensuring her yard always had colorful flowers in bloom. Her sweet dogs, Ginger and Nina, brought great joy to her life and Jean started many holiday traditions that will be kept alive through her children and grandchildren. Jean was a strong, independent woman who loved her family and took on life’s challenges, ensuring she lived her 94 years to the fullest. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Glover, her sister, Martha Davis Henshaw McClanahan, and her brother, Edmund Lee Henshaw, Jr. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Janice (Bill) Neudorfer, Jacquelyn (Michael) Mattingly, and Jennifer (Michael) Levendusky; her beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Kara, Emily, David, Nick, Leah, and Anna; her five great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jean’s life on Wednesday, November 20 from 3 to 6 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
