rene Catterton Forsythe, 100, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died February 14 at La Casa Assisted Living in Annapolis of natural causes. She was born Feb. 4, 1911, in Waterbury, to the late Samuel R. Forney and Bertha E. Catterton Forney, and attended the 1840 schoolhouse at Baldwin Hall in Millersville. Mrs. Forsythe was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Forsythe, whom she married in 1937 and who died in 1983; eight siblings, Samuel, Robert, Martha, Estelle, Susie, Janie, Marguerette and Evelyn; and niece, Evelyn. She is survived by two children, William (Bonnie) E. Forsythe of Annapolis and Nancy (Donald) I. Covington of Davidsonville; four grandchildren, Guy P. Covington of Centreville, Brian W. Covington of Davidsonville, Donald C. Covington of Lothian and Jill Frick of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Friends are invited to Irene’s Life Celebration from 12 noon until time of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s name to one’s favorite charity.
