rene Virginia Sweeney “Ginnyâ€, 56, a resident of South County most of her adult life, died on July 1, 2010 at her home in Lothian following a 9-month battle with cancer. Born March 16, 1954 in Cheverly, MD to the late Russell Rossback and Betty Anne Nicholson, Ginny was a graduate of Largo High School. She was a bus driver for Prince Georges County Schools and a member of Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville. Ginny enjoyed camping and taking trips to the beach but, most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandbabies.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Ronald M. Sweeney, whom she married on her birthday in 1984; two sons: Ronald G. Sweeney of Lothian and Richard M. Sweeney of Annapolis; two daughters: Misty (Linford) R. Golding,Kristy (John) A. Kidwell, both of Upper Marlboro and Jenove Cruz; three brothers: Bobby Rossback of Davidsonville, Robert Hamilton of Florida and Russell Rossback, Jr. of Tennessee; and five sisters: Patricia Rossback-Barr, Barbra Allen and Betty Jo Vermillion all of Davidsonville, Janet Stallings of Tennessee and Donna Segar of Upper Marlboro, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dylan, Dalton, Delany, Ryan, Justin, Cameron, Brandon, Brianna, Brooke, Jemyla and Timmy.
Friends are invited to Ginny's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037 on Monday, July 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035 on Tuesday, July 13, at 11 a.m. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
