ack Oland Humphrey, “Jack”, 78, a 22-year resident of Edgewater, MD died on July 28, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after suffering a stroke. Born February 9, 1933 in Beaufort County (Parris Island), SC, to the late Andrew Jackson and Julia Ida (Taylor) Humphrey, he served in the United States Marine Corps as a Private First Class from July 19, 1950-March 28, 1952. Jack was employed as an electrician with Mona Electrical Service prior to his retirement. His memberships included Electrical Workers Union Local 26 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Retired Members’ Club. He enjoyed boating. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Robert J. Humphrey. Jack is survived by his sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Humphrey of Roanoke, VA; three nephews, Robert L. Humphrey of Oak Hill, VA, James T. Humphrey of Salem, VA and Jack A. Humphrey of Arvada, CO; also survived by his special friend, Pat Wroten. A Celebration of Jack's life for friends and family will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 between 3 and 7pm at Jack’s home. Arrangements by the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, MD.
