Jacob Brentzel, Jr. - Obituary

acob “Jake” Brentzel, Jr., 87, a long-time resident of Maryland and most recently of Upper Marlboro, passed away on September 25, 2017 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on June 7, 1930 in Irwin, PA to the late Elizabeth and Jacob Brentzel, Sr., Jake graduated high school and entered the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Later he returned to school and graduated from the Engineers Officers School. Jake established and managed the former Quik Concrete Construction in Maryland. He enjoyed fishing and watching all sports. Most of all, Jake enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his wife, of 28 years, Helen Seip Brentzel; a brother, Charles and sisters, Carolyn and Venejean. He is survived by his companion of 33 years, Venetia Lavato; four sons, Robert (Christine) Brentzel of Dunkirk, MD, Richard (Laura) Brentzel of Shady Side, MD, Ronald Brentzel of Churchton, MD and David Brentzel of Camp Springs, MD; one daughter, Patti (Jacob) Hoellich of Chesapeake Beach, MD; four grandsons, Robert, Kenneth, Alan and Jacob; two granddaughters, Shelly and Emily; a great-grandson, Luke and a great-granddaughter, Sailor. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.
