acquelyn Annette Porter was born to Oliver V. Porter Jr., and Emma Lee Porter on April 19, 1951, and spent her childhood with parents and siblings in Warrior, Alabama. Jackie’s elementary and high school education was completed at Warrior Junior High and North Jefferson High School. She spent many fun and loving hours as a member of St. James United Methodist Church (Warrior, AL), and was nurtured in the love of God and grew in faith. Early in her life, it was discovered that she had a beautiful voice. She used this gift when singing in her church, high school and college choirs. Jackie attended Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland, where she completed her elementary education degree. Jackie and Howard Plato Lloyd, Jr., (deceased) met at Knoxville College, married and became parents of Kawana Lavenia and Howard Jordan. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Oxon Hill and recently began attending Oxon Hill United Methodist Church. Jackie was passionate in the work that she did with children as director of childhood programming for the YMCA, Prince George’s County Branch and as an elementary school teacher at Hillcrest Heights Elementary and Bladensburg Elementary. After more than 20 years in early childhood learning and education, she retired in 2013. Her zeal and joy for life was infectious. She was a fun person who loved her family and her friends. She also loved music and a good yard party. Survivors are daughter Kawana Lavenia Lloyd and Grandson Lucas John-Lyons Robertson, Jr., Howard Jordan Lloyd (Ebony Vinson) and grandchildren Noah and Maya Lloyd. Sisters Gwen Gibson (Bill), Toni Hines (William), Patricia Bailey, Bonita Hatley (Larry); Brother Duane Porter; Brother in-law Barry Wooledge. Aunts Marie Porter, May Freeman. Preceded in death parents Reverend Oliver V. Porter, Jr., and Emma Lee Porter, siblings Olivia, Oliver, and Lois (Wooledge). Sister-friends Tara Johnson, Dorinne McKay, Cherice Bowden, dear friend Ben Pryor and many more friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD from 10 a.m. until the start of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment private at a later date.
