James Daniel Callaghan - Obituary

ames Daniel Callaghan "Jim", age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home in Annapolis, MD. Born on May 27, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late Patricia Waters and John “Jack” Callaghan, Jr., Jim was their oldest son. He graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, MD and then continued his studies at the University of Maryland. Before his retirement, Jim enjoyed a long career with AT&T, fulfilling many roles. He had a wonderful knack for making his co-workers feel like they were all his friends. Jim had a passion for sports, avidly following his hometown Redskins, Nationals, Capitals and his beloved Terps. He enjoyed golfing, the company of his friends and most importantly, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim is survived by his four children, Matthew J. (MaryAnn) Callaghan of Annapolis, MD, Erin P. Callaghan of Mooresville, NC, Kevin M. (Jennifer) Callaghan of Cherry Hill, NJ and Brett A. Callaghan of Annapolis, MD; his seven grandchildren, Conor, Jack, Abigail, Brennan, Kylie, Ryan, and Finn, all of whom always put a smile on his face; his six siblings, Kathleen (John) Brown, John (Peg) Callaghan, III, Eileen Shadday, Robert (Debra) Callaghan, Jeanne (Donald) Braun and Carey (Robert) Civitella who will all miss him dearly, as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Jim are invited to celebrate Jim's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, May 1 from 6 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD on Thursday, May 2 at 10:30am.
