ames C. “Jim” Foote passed away December 12, 2015. Born in Lansing, MI in 1935, Jim joined the U.S. Army in 1954 where he served in the tank and dental corps. After his tour of service, Jim spent time traveling and working his way across the U.S. with friends. He worked as a chef in Florida and a life guard in the Bahamas before returning to Michigan to work for the family car dealership. Jim eventually made a career in land development, completing many successful projects in Indiana, Michigan, Maryland and Virginia, including Lake of the Woods, Indian Acres and several projects on Lake Anna. While working and living in Virginia, Jim met his wife, Shirley. They married in 1965 and resided in Springfield, VA before moving to Annapolis in 1974 with their children, Renee and Jason. Jim was a well-known and well-liked face in Annapolis and had many friends from his memberships at the Annapolis Yacht Club, the Elks, the Moose, Chartwell, and the American Veterans Association. He was known for his wit, sense of humor and general joy of life. He was always generous with his time, talent and treasure, and his home was always an open house for friends. Many people will remember spending their Sundays by the pool at the Foote’s over the years. Jim was also an avid football fan. He attended the Senior Bowl every year with friends, in addition to going to all of the Ravens and Navy games. An avid Navy football fan, Jim started and maintained a popular Navy Tailgate in the early 1980’s with friends that still exists today. Jim and Shirley also sponsored many midshipmen. He enjoyed working out and was a regular at Reggie Faust’s gym for many years. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Foote and his brother, Don Foote. He is survived by his daughter, Renee F. Bisciotti and son-in-law, Steve Bisciotti; his son, Jason Foote and daughter-in-law, Melissa Foote; three brothers, Robert, Evert, and Eric Foote; two sisters, Marilyn Andrews and her husband, Bob and Scarlett Foote Sybrowsky and brother-in-law, Travis Sybrowsky; his sister-in-law, Shirley Foote; and grandchildren, Jason Bisciotti, Jack Bisciotti, Gunner Foote, Jordan Foote and great-grandson James Bisciotti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews around the country whom he loved and kept in touch with regularly. Friends are invited to celebrate Jim’s life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 17 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment private.
