James Patrick Gerety - Obituary

ames Patrick “Jim” Gerety, age 60 and a resident of Riva for 33 years, died May 27, 2021 after a long illness. Jim was born in West Islip, NY on July 6, 1960 and served his country in the US Navy for five years, being honorably discharged in 1986. He was self employed in the marine electronics industry and was a member of the Knights of Pythias. An avid sports fan, especially of the Baltimore Ravens, he also loved golf, spending time at his second home in Mexico and devoting his time to his family and grandchildren. Jim was an amazing man that was loved by everyone he knew. Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marquetta; daughters Tonya (Richard) Jones of Edgewater and Jennifer Gerety of Maryland; siblings Rick (Jill) Gerety of Bel Air, Chris (Christine) Gerety of North Carolina, Mark Gerety and Ellin Gerety of Maryland; and his adoring grandchildren, Alexis, Conner and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Gerety. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim’s life on Saturday, June 5 at 4 PM at the Knights of Pythias, 2529 Solomons Island Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Flowers will be accepted for the celebration of life, but donations in his memory may also be made to the Knights of Pythias.
