ames Edward “Eddie” Goddard, 81, of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2018 from kidney failure. A lifelong Annapolitan, he was born April 13, 1937 to the late James Lee Goddard and Hilda Mae (Bull) Goddard. He attended St. Mary's Elementary and High Schools and served in the U.S. Air Force.
Eddie was hired by the Anne Arundel County Police Department in 1964 and retired with over 27 years of service. He then worked at Annapolis Radiator & Body Shop for several years before being hired by NAAA at the Navy Golf Course where he remained for 19 years until June 2018.
He enjoyed traveling and college sports, especially Maryland football and basketball, Navy football and golf, and NASCAR. He was an active member of the FOP Lodge 70, Annapolis Elks Lodge 622, and Maryland Terrapin Club.
He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Betty Goddard. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Emily Cadle Goddard; three children, James Michael Goddard (Theresa Hope-Goddard) of Centerville, MD, Anthony Lee Goddard of Odenton, and Connie Goddard Rund of Annapolis; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, William Goddard of Calloway, MD and his sister, Deborah Goddard Rankin (Jake Rankin) of Princess Anne, MD.
Friends are invited to celebrate Eddie’s life with his family on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD. Burial will be at St. Anne's Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
