James G. Hansen - Obituary

J

ames "Jim" Gerald Hansen, aged 76 and a cherished resident of Bowie, Maryland, for 40 years, peacefully passed away at his home on March 12, 2024. Born into the loving arms of Maxine and Gerald Hansen on November 14, 1947, in Jackson, Minnesota, Jim's journey was one of service, dedication, joy, and laughter. With a great sense of humor and a brilliantly sarcastic wit, he had a unique way of lightening every moment, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. After a distinguished career in the Air Force that concluded in 1987, he embarked on successful endeavors with Raytheon and L3 Communications, showcasing his commitment to excellence and leadership. An enthusiastic golfer, Jim's passion for the greens was only surpassed by the love and time he cherished with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will forever echo in their hearts, often punctuated by his playful jokes and laughter. Jim was welcomed into eternity by his parents and a brother, Ken Hansen. His legacy of love, strength, and laughter lives on through his devoted wife of 56 years, Marsha Hansen; his children, Jamie Hansen of Phoenix, Arizona, and Caroline Allie of Prince Frederick, Maryland; his sisters, Carole Hansen of Chandler, Arizona, and Joyce Woodroffe of Tempe, Arizona; his grandsons, Nicholas, Devon, Jonathan, Joseph, and Christian Allie; his granddaughters, Jessica Knott and Olivia and Lauren Allie; and his great-granddaughters, Ellie and Evelyn Knott. Jim's life was a beacon of inspiration, humor, and spirit, and his memory will continue to bring joy and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
