James Blake "J.B." Johnston, 97, a resident of Deale for 30 years, died of natural causes Oct. 9 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born Feb. 25, 1910, in Connellsville, Pa., Mr. Johnston graduated from Cheyney State Teachers College in 1933. He was an industrial arts teacher for many years at McKinley Technical High School in Washington, D.C.
His interests included travel, woodcarving and photography.
Surviving are one son, James B. "Peter" Johnston of Baltimore; two daughters, Isabel Stewart of Chicago and Sharyn Martin of Deale; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Burial is private.
