ames Franklin King, 82 of Camp Springs, MD passed away on January 28, 2016 at his home. Born in Washington, DC on March 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Elton Leonard King and Margaret Clemmer King. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce King, sister-in-law Patricia King and Gloria Oursler and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Jody King Koenig; brothers Robert King,William King, Elton King and Sisters, Phyllis Calhoun, Betty Mobbs and Virginia Stemple.
James joined the Navy in 1950 and traveled to many countries during his tour of duty. After leaving the Navy, he met and married Joyce Pyles in 1958. They had one child, Jody Beth. James took a job with Giant Foods where he was a Produce Manager and worked for over 30 years.
James loved to have a good time and many would say was a bit of a rascal. He enjoyed the sport of chance and would spend time with his friends at the American Legion playing bingo, keno and filling out his weekly football pool card. James enjoyed spending time gardening, growing flowers and vegetables that he shared with friends and neighbors. He loved sports of all kinds and seldom missed watching a ball game or football game. He was a huge Redskin and National’s Fan.
The Family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11am at Bells Methodist Church, 6016 Allentown Rd, Camp Springs, MD 20746 at 11:00 am.
