J

ames (Jim) MacDonald, 69, a resident of Annapolis for 33 years, died of heart failure March 1, 2008, at his home in Annapolis, Maryland after a lengthy illness. Mr. MacDonald was born January 22, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan. He was raised in Pennsylvania, graduating from West Catholic High School and then attended Temple University. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1967. Jim worked for General Electric's small appliance division, which later became Black and Decker, for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He started his career as a warehouse manager and was later promoted to a Sales Account Executive for the east coast division. His love for the Chesapeake Bay brought him and his family to Annapolis in 1975 where he raised his family in Annapolis Roads. He was one of the founding members of the Ogleton Lake Yacht Club and an avid boater. His hobbies were fishing, power boating and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of Saint Mary's and Saint John Neumann's Roman Catholic Church, Fleet Reserve Club, American Legion, Lake Ogleton Yacht club, and The Elks Club. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald & Hildegard MacDonald. Survivors include his brother John MacDonald of Annapolis, MD, sister Mary Sue Morrissey of Springfield, Pennsylvania, his wife of 42 years Mary Patricia MacDonald of Annapolis, MD, his son, Kevin James & his wife, Kelly MacDonald of Lusby, Maryland, his daughter, Kimberly Ann MacDonald Pollock of Annapolis, Maryland, and four grandchildren, Kyle Gray, Brandon McDowell, Billy Pollock III and Grace MacDonald. Relatives and Friends are invited to James's Life Celebration on Tuesday March 4, 2008 from 3-5 & 7-9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD 21037. A memorial Mass will be offered on Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 9:30am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 620 Bestgate Road Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in James's memory to Hospice of the Chesapeake 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401 (online here)
