James Thomas Mozingo - Obituary

ames “Jim” Thomas Mozingo, Sr., 83, a 35 year resident of Clinton, MD left to be with the Lord on August 15, 2020. Jim was born on March 9, 1937 in SW Washington, DC to the late Joseph and Doris Mozingo. Jim was proud to have worked for the Wilson Line, for the DC Water Department, as a DC Firefighter for 13 years before retiring in 1974, and then as a bailiff in Upper Marlboro and at Rosecroft Raceway and as a real estate agent. He was also a taxi cab driver after retirement as he enjoyed driving around Washington, DC. Jim was a member of Independent Baptist Church, Southwest Washington Alumni Association (S.W.A.A.), Elks Lodge, and American Legion. He thoroughly enjoyed celebrating holidays, spending time with family and friends, and dining at restaurants to include McDonald’s, Cracker Barrel, and Topolino’s. He will be remembered by his beautiful baby blue eyes and contagious smile. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cleo E. Mozingo (nee Peed) of 56 years; son, Timothy Mozingo; sister, Patricia Gibson; and brother, Joseph Mozingo. He is survived by his loving children, Deborah (Jim) Hough, Patricia Smith, James (Sherrie) Mozingo, Jr.; grandchildren Laura Smith, Jimmy, Garrett, and Amelia Hough; great-grandson James Berard, Jr; and siblings David Sistek, Linda Walters, Dee Dee Jolley, and John Mozingo. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family member, and friends. Family and friends are invited to Jim’s Life Celebration on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Funeral serviceS will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Independent Baptist Church, 9255 Piscataway Rd, Clinton, MD. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
