James Phelps Soresi - Obituary

ames Phelps Soresi, 78 of Fort Wahington, MD, better known as “Jamie” to family and close friends, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023. He was born on September 16, 1945, in Washington, D.C. to the late Virginia Tucker Soresi and James Robert Phelps. James is survived by his wife, L. Darlene Soresi, his two sons, James Christopher and Joseph Brian, his brother Michael J. and sister-in-law Cheryl, niece Michelle and nephews Daniel and Nicolas Soresi, and a grandson Liam D. Soresi. James started his career in 1967 working for the State of Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation in Prince George’s County and retired after 43 years as Supervisor of the Department. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, spending time in Fort Pierce, FL along with collecting and racing cars. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
