ames Alfred Stewart, Sr was born on May 24,1933 to the late Joseph and Agnes Stewart in Waldorf, MD. He departed this life on June 30, 2012. He was educated in the Charles County School System and served as a demolition specialist in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged as a corporal in May 1955. On September 3,1955 he Married Annie Elizabeth Proctor of LaPlata, MD. They had five children. Deborah A. Jones; James Alfred Stewart, Jr, Stephen R. Young, Anthony T. Stewart and the late Timothy L. Stewart. He retired in 1988 from the U.S. Goverment after 36 years of service and worked as a bartender, bus operator, dispatcher and a security guard. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus,The American Legion Randolph Furey Post # 170, and Pomonkey High School Alumni. He served two terms as Grand Knight of Bishop Bryne Council of The Knights of Columbus and one term as a District Deputy for the District of Columbia. He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. His hobbies were sports, reading, traveling, listening to the blues and jazz music, and playing cards. He was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Michael and sisters Elsie, and Ethel Mae. The beloved husband of the late Annie Elizabeth Stewart "Sis", father of Deborah A. Jones, James Alferd Stewart, Jr., Stephen R. Young, Sr., Anthony T. Stewart and the late Timothy L. Stewart; grandfather of Melvin T. Jones, Jr., Stephen Young, Jr., Ameera Stewart and Alexa Crow; great-grandfather of Maya and Morgan Jones; brother of Roger, Robert, Martin and Lawrence Stewart, Phyllis Roy, Roseanna Robinson, Carolyn Williams and Theresa Stewart. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to James' Life Celebration on Friday, July 6 at St Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd, Oxon Hill MD, from 10:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.
