ames Bennett “Jimmy†Stockett, Sr. James B. Stockett, Sr., was born April 14, 1934 in Davidsonville, Maryland. He passed away April 11, 2009 in his Edgewater home after a 4 year illness. At the age of 16, Jimmy started working for E.S.S.O (Exxon) where he was employed for over 35 years. Inspired by his years there, he opened his own auto repair shop in Edgewater. Jimmy's hobbies included but were not limited to; working on cars, playing Bingo, gardening and going to the beach. His most prominent hobbies were putting together landscape puzzles, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James Vernon Stockett, his mother and step-father Helen and Oden Carrick, his wife of 50 years Mary Lou Kirchner Stockett, his son Michael Patrick Stockett, sister Arlene Walker, grandson James Bennett Stockett, III and his great granddaughter Elena. Surviving family members include Gary and Patty Stockett of Edgewater, James B. Stockett, Jr. and his wife Anita of Edgewater, Elitha Stockett of Hurst, Texas, John Vernon Stockett, Evelyn Southard and her husband Mac, Randall Scott Stockett, all of Glen Burnie, MD, Patricia Hirtzel and her husband Fred of Church Hill and James Alexander Stockett and his wife Tina of Annapolis, his brother Bobby Stockett of California, brother and best bud Wayne Ashley, his sisters, Louise Hewitt of Oregon, Pat Grolier of Preston, MD Surviving grandchildren include Jennifer Lynn Stockett, Stephanie and Freddie Hirtzel, Christina and Michelle Easley, Randall Scott, Nicole, A.J., and Julie Stockett, Peter and Mark Hamilton, Macky and Lynn Southard, Jake , Jr., James, Jakob and Jennifer Michelle Stockett and Rhiana and Thomas Housley. Surviving great-grandchildren include Kayla, Brayden, Mareli, Savannah, Ashlie, Joleigh, Shane and Preston. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9pm, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037 where funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 15, 2009 at 11am. Interment private.
