James Voorhees - Obituary

ames Milton Voorhees, Jr., of Edgewater, MD, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Mr. Voorhees was born August 31, 1927 in Albany, NY. A graduate of Bethlehem Central Senior High School, he served with the first Marine division in China. Just after the end of the second World War, he attended the University of Syracuse School of Forestry, then married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Gibbs, on September 16, 1950. He is survived by Elaine and three fortunate sons, Derek, David and Scott, whose collective mission is to pass Jim's love and generosity of spirit to his seven beautiful grandchildren. Friends and family alike are not poorer for his passing, but all the richer for having known him at all. Friends are invited to Mr. Voorhees' Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday, November 16 from 2 to 4pm, where services will be held Monday, November 17 at 11am. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
