ames Ernest Zell, Jr., “Jim”, a 35-year resident of Edgewater, MD, passed away on September 21, 2017 in Key West, FL. He was 62. Born on June 21, 1955 in Washington, DC to the late Virginia Blow and James Ernest Zell, Sr., Jim was a retired property manager. He enjoyed boating, fishing, growing tomatoes, genealogy and history. Jim was preceded in death by one son, James Zell III. He is survived by three sons, Joseph Zell of Medina, OH, Steven Zell of Shady Side, MD and Ryan Zell of Annapolis, MD; his fiancée, Ruby Shipley of Cudjoe Key, FL; one brother, Paul Zell of Edgewater, MD; two sisters, Nancy Morrish of Mesquite, TX and Mariann Eiring of Seminole, FL; two grandsons, Nicholas Zell and James Zell IV; and two granddaughters, Zoey Zell and Kiersten Zell. Friends are invited to celebrate Jim’s life with his family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 29 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where Jim’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30. Burial will be at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
