Jane Burroughs - Obituary

ane L. Burroughs, 78, a 40-year resident of Edgewater, died December 14 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on April 24, 1935 in Washington, DC to the late Merrill and Mary Jane Blake, Jane married George W. “Buddy” Burroughs on April 11, 1953 and became a career homemaker, focusing her life on supporting her husband and children, and making a comfortable home for all her family. She was an avid Redskins fan and long-time season ticket holder along with her husband. She also enjoyed attending live theater productions and playing bingo. In addition to her beloved husband, Buddy, Jane is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Randy) Phillips of Edgewater and Cathy Cox of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Russell (Deborah) Phillips of Edgewater, Brooke (Matt) Sellars of Jacksonville, FL and Laura (Ronnie) Lee of Edgewater; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Jane’s Life Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
