ane Eleanor Wells, 89, a 21-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Suitland, MD, died April 28.
Born on December 20, 1923 in Forestville, MD to the late Arcenious and Louise Beane, Jane graduated in 1940 from Marlboro High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and attended Strayers Business College. She held various positions as a bank teller and bookkeeper and worked as a secretary at the U.S. Census Bureau.
Jane was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Queen’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, bowling and travel. Her passion was her family and her role as wife, mother and homemaker.
Jane is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edwin V. Wells, Jr.; son, Ronald E. Wells of Temple Hills, MD; two daughters, Mary K. Vass of Bryantown, MD and Patricia A. Barrett of Annapolis; seven grandchildren, Thomas and Ronald Wells, Christopher and Timothy Barrett, Kristen Corallo, Sabrina Bettes and Elizabeth Wingard; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Jane’s Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 1 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, May 2 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD.
