Janet Austin - Obituary

anet Marie Austin, 63, of Lothian and formerly Bowie, MD, passed away on April 1, 2016 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on June 20, 1952 in Washington, DC to the late Alvin and Mildred Guern, Janet was a graduate of Bladensburg High School. She pursued a career as an administrative assistant in the health care industry from which she was retired. Janet enjoyed dancing, camping, swimming and crafts. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Jr. and Paul Guern. She is survived by two children, TJ Austin (Joshua VanBoven) of Edgewater and Samantha (Joshua) Smith of Lothian; one brother, Joseph (Sharon) Guern of College Park, three sisters, Patricia Wesley of Omaha, NE, Linda Davidson of Annapolis and Elaine (Kenneth) Sanders of Sioux City, IA; two sisters-in law, Pamela Guern of Pittsburgh, PA and Donna Guern of Lincoln, NE; three granddaughters, Kayla Aleshire and Ava and Evelyn Smith; and her former spouse, Dennis Austin. Friends are invited to celebrate Janet’s life on Tuesday, April 5 from 6:00 p.m. until her memorial service begins at 7:00 p.m. at the George P.
